Friday Favorites: Vacation

I didn’t have Friday Favorites last week, you may have noticed. No posts at all, because I was on vacation. Glorious, glorious vacation. I didn’t take pictures of my food or anything! I just took pictures of my kid and tried to keep up with sunscreen application. It was a good time, and much needed.

Shore Acres

Shore Acres State Park. Not bad!

We visited Coos Bay, and got to try out 7 Devils Brewing. Stop by for a cold one if you’re ever in the area.

We got back on Sunday, and between catching up with work and a car that needed to go to the shop, the week has flown by. We’re just trying to stay cool over here. Again. I’ve never looked forward to fall in July.

This week’s favorites:

A dishwasher! We moved into a house with a dishwasher, but it was ancient and did not actually work. This week, my parents bought us one as an anniversary/housewarming gift, and it is gonna be GREAT. Seriously, I figure this will save us five hours a week that we desperately need for other house projects.

Homegrown tomatoes. I can thank my parents for that one, too. They brought over tomatoes and zucchini, with the promise of more zucchini upon request, of course.

OMSI. Our annual membership will be over as of today, and we have used the HECK out of it, especially during this hot weather.

No other food faves this week. I tried to get something new from Cartopia, but the timing didn’t work out. C’est la vie, especially when you’re talking about food carts.

What were your faves this week? How are you staying cool?

” I just took pictures of my kid and tried to keep up with sunscreen application.” That sounds like my perfect vacation. I’m hoping to do much of the same this weekend as we escape the heat and hit the coast. We’ve been living without a dishwasher for about 3 years now (no room in our very old home) and I miss it so very much. ENOY!!

It’s almost three years without a dishwasher for us, too. Our rental home last week had one, and it was almost like magic. Poof! Dirty dishes disappear.

We loved Sunset Bay, which is just north of there. It’s a sheltered cove, and very flat, so you can walk out for a loooong time without getting too deep. Great for kids. Shore Acres was lovely. Bring binoculars so you can see the sea lions, seals, and elephant seals.

Beautiful pictures! We haven’t been there yet. And yay about a dishwasher. That was a HUGE day for us when we moved into a place that had one. It’s such a happy thing. 🙂

Thank you! I was doing some (very overdue) work in the yard this morning, and I thought how welcome it’ll be to turn that dishwashing time into yard time.

What a great shot! This summer is flying by and for me it’s been too much work and too little play. So my favorite thing so far has been my daily photo walks around Portland neighborhoods. Such a great city. 🙂
