Get your smoked fake meats, southern comfort food, and deep-fried Oreos at the Homegrown Smoker Vegan BBQ cart.
They used to have a cart across from my office on 4th and Hall, many moons ago, and that’s where I started an affair with Macnocheeto with soy curls–Mac no cheese, beans, peppers & onions, and smoked soy curls, all wrapped up in a whole wheat tortilla. With BBQ sauce. This is an excellent choice that will satisfy all of your savory cravings, but it’s only for when you’re very hungry or can save half for the next day.
They’re open seven days a week these days, but as they have a new business that’s barely off the ground, you can expect hours to maybe vary a bit. As usual with carts, check ahead by phone or on Twitter or Facebook before making a special trip. They announce specials on Twitter/Instagram/Facebook, too, so you never know. Something might strike you that you just HAVE to have. Their menu is available on Facebook.
Check out my listing for the Homegrown Smokehouse and Deli for their new brick-and-mortar restaurant. (Whoo!)
Gluten-free items noted on menu. 100% vegan, as the name would suggest. Gluten-free buns are $2 extra.
